Taylor Swift Urged By Fans To Exit David O. Russel Film

Taylor Swift is being urged to drop out of the new David O. Russel film she was recently cast in, over alleged misconduct.
Russel, known for films like American Hustle and Joy, has pulled together an impressive Hollywood ensemble. The cast includes the likes of Swift, Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, Rami Malek, Robert De Niro, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, John David Washington and Zoe Saldana.
The new film is yet untitled and plot details are being kept tightly under wraps.
When news of Swift’s casting first broke, not all of the singer’s fans responded positively on social media.
One user posted on Twitter: “Did David O Russel cast Taylor Swift so he could yell at her?”
“Taste!! Now cancel your contract or projects with David O Russel!!” Wrote a fan interacting with Swift about her album ‘Evermore‘.
“Not David O Russel I can’t believe her team is letting this happen.” commented another fan.
The controversy stems from historic allegations of abusive behaviour and misconduct on set by Russel.
In 2000 it came to light that Russel had gotten into a altercation with George Clooney on the set of Three Kings. Charles Roven, who produced the film, described the “tussle” to The Hollywood Reporter. “George sees David talking to the extras’ [assistant director], and it looks like he’s yelling at him.”
“But he’s yelling to be heard. And George comes running over and goes, “I told you, motherf—er, if you’re going to pick on somebody, pick on me.” And David goes, “Why don’t you just f—ing remember your lines for once?” And boom! They grab each other, and they’re tussling.”
Speaking to Playboy in 2000, Clooney himself described working with Russel as “truly, without exception, the worst experience of my life.”
“He yelled and screamed at people all day, from day one.” Clooney said, before going on to describe instances where Russel made a script supervisor cry, an assistant director quit and physically assaulted an extra.
Other actors have also been on the receiving end of Russel’s inappropriate behaviour. During the filming of ‘I Heart Huckabees‘, Russel was caught on video calling star, Lily Tomlin, a “b****” and “c***”.
Additionally, Amy Adams confessed in an interview with GQ, that Russel frequently made her cry on set. “He was hard on me, that’s for sure. It was a lot.” She added. “I was really just devastated on set. I mean, not every day, but most.”
Swift’s role in Russel’s new project is yet unknown, but this isn’t the first time the singer has dabbled in acting. Her last film role was in the 2019 adaptation of Cats and before that she featured in The Giver.
Most recently, Swift has been enjoying the success of her two studio albums, Folklore and Evermore – both released in 2020.
