Steven Spielberg has signed a deal with Netflix and will produce “multiple films a year” for the streaming giant.

The filmmakers production company Amblin Partners will be teaming up with Netflix to produce multiple new films a year.

In a statement on the deal, Spielberg said.

“At Amblin, storytelling will forever be at the center of everything we do, and from the minute Ted and I started discussing a partnership, it was abundantly clear that we had an amazing opportunity to tell new stories together and reach audiences in new ways.”

The deal won’t see Spielberg’s future films released on the streaming service.

In 2019 a report claimed that Spielberg had tried to change the Oscars eligibility rules to prevent streaming services from competing.

The Hollywood director is reportedly working on a new project that will touch on his upbringing in Arizona. Filming for the untitled project will reportedly start this summer.
