Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally voiced their support for Ukraine whilst hosting the Independent Spirit Awards.

After returning from a short break during Sunday’s award ceremony, the married acting duo took a moment to pay tribute to those “affected by the war in Ukraine and all unjust conflicts around the world.”

Mullally added, “I think we speak for everyone here when we say that we are hoping for a quick, peaceful resolution. Specifically, f**k off and go home Putin!”

“We hope Putin f***s off and goes home, and to that end let’s all join together with a Spirit Awards salute to Putin,” stated Offerman, before he and Mullally held their middle fingers at the camera. The camera then briefly flashed to the audience, where Kristen Stewart could be seen joining in on the ‘salute’.

Urging people to continue donating to the efforts in Ukraine, Mullally said, “Great organisations are raising money. Please give what you can to give to the victims of this senseless act of aggression.”

Taking to the stage later in the evening, Stewart also voiced her support for the Ukrainian people, as the background behind her featured the yellow and blue of the country’s flag.

“We stand for independence as a community, we stand for freedom of expression, we stand for humanity, today we are compelled to stand with the people of Ukraine.” She continued, “They are risking their lives to fight for those very things. We stand with the hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing this war, both Ukrainians and those of other ethnicities and nationalities being denied safe harbour.”

“We must never ever take for granted the importance of courage, empathy and the power of connecting. The power of understanding each other feels really good.”
