Novak Djokovic Wins Opening Match At Dubai Tennis Championships

Novak Djokovic has returned to action amid his controversial stance against the Covid-19 vaccine.
At the beginning of the year, the world no.1 was deported from Australia and unable to compete in the Open after arriving unvaccinated.
More recently he revealed that he would be willing to sacrifice trophies if he was not permitted to compete while unvaccinated in future tournaments.
Now back in action, Djokovic has won his opening game of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
He defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6-3 6-3 in just over an hour.
“I couldn’t ask for a better reception,” Djokovic said. “It’s been a while since I played the last match. I couldn’t pick a better place to kick-start the season.”
“It was the best possible experience tonight and thank you very much for your support and welcoming me on the court the way you did.”
Djokovic will meet either Karen Khachanov or Alex de Minaur in the second round of the Championships.
