‘Mindhunter’ And ‘The OA’ Writer Dominic Orlando Dies Aged 57

Dominic Orlando, a writer for shows like Mindhunter and The OA, has passed away at the age of 57.

According to Variety, a CAA spokesperson confirmed Orlanda had died in Washington on November 17, following complications with cancer.

Orlando began his career in the theatres of New York in the early 1990s. Relocating to Minneapolis, he co-founded the Workhaus Collective while on Jermone and McKnight Fellowships for the Playwrights’ Center. During this time he wrote a number of original plays, including Globalization and A Short Play About 9/11.

Relocating once more, this time to Los Angeles, Orlando pursued a lucrative television career, writing for shows such as Them, The OA, Mindhunter, and Nightflyers.

Orlando is succeeded by his mother Lillian, brothers John and Steven, sister-in-law Sara, and a number of extended family members. The family asks that people pay tribute to Orlando by donating to the Dominic Orlando Fund, established by friends and the Playwrights’ Center.
