June Brown Has Died Aged 95

Actress and author June Muriel Brown OBE has passed away at the age of 95.
Her family said they were “deeply saddened” to announce that their “beloved mother” had died “very peacefully” at her home on Sunday.
She began her career in 1959, as Chica in The Rough and Ready Lot. Brown is best known for her role in soap opera EastEnders as Dot Cotton.
She was on the BBC show from 1985 to 2020, taking a break between ’93 and ’97, and then retiring from the show just two years ago.

June was also absent from the show for six months in 2012 in order to write her autobiography, Before The Year Dot, which published in 2013.
She won Best Actress at the Inside Soap Awards and received the Lifetime Achievement award at the British Soap Awards in 2005.
June is survived by her five children, Louise, Chloe, Naomi, William and Sophie, all by her second husband Robert Arnold who died in 2003.
