Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is to avoid jail time in relation to his 2020 DUI case.

According to TMZ, The Tudors star reportedly agreed to attend an alcohol education program, in addition to a $500 fine and one-year probation. He pled no contest to one reckless driving charge in exchange for the dismissal of two DUI charges.

Meyers was arrested for a misdemeanour DUI back in November 2020. The 44-year-old got into a car accident in Malibu and was found to have drunk well over the legal limit.

The incident was not Meyer’s first run-in with the law, nor his first time struggling with substance abuse. In 2018 Meyers directed a drunken tirade at his wife whilst boarding an LAX flight and in 2009 he was arrested in France for an alleged drunken assault on an airport employee.
