Elon Musk was left in an awkward position after his new Tesla Cybertruck shattered.

In an onstage demonstration of the Cybertruck, that holds shatterproof windows, Musk explains that by throwing an object at the window, it won’t break.

On Thursday at SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, California, the curtain was pulled back to reveal the new Cybertruck. His staffer launched a metal ball at the driver side armoured glass window causing it to smash — to which Elon responded, “Oh my f****** God,” before suggesting, “Maybe that was a little too hard.”

The staffer then demonstrated on the back driver side window, again, throwing the metal ball at the armoured glass, to which it once again shattered.

During the launch of the Cybertruck, he admitted the design was “influenced” by the James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me.

Musk explained the necessity of designing a pickup truck that boasts sustainable energy, saying, “We need sustainable energy now. If we don’t have a pickup truck, we can’t solve it. The top 3 selling vehicles in America are pickup trucks. To solve sustainable energy, we have to have a pickup truck.”

Production of the Cybertruck is slated for two years’ time and holds a price tag of $39,900 (£31,000).
