Dwayne Johnson Rejects Vin Diesel’s ‘Fast & Furious 10’ Invitation

Dwayne Johnson has publicly responded to Vin Diesel’s request for him to return in Fast & Furious 10.
Johnson featured in the fifth instalment to the iconic action franchise – Fast Five – which premiered in 2011. He starred alongside Diesel, but the pair became known for their tense personal and working relationship.
Though Johnson proceeded to appear in The Fate of the Furious and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, he bowed out of the franchise in 2019 after Diesel claimed he needed to show Johnson “tough love” for the best performance.
In November Diesel appeared to extend a public invitation to Johnson via Instagram, urging him to set aside their difference for the final instalment of the franchise.
Now, in an interview with CNN, Johnson stated there was “no chance” he would return to the franchise, describing Diesel’s post as “an example of his manipulation.”
“I was very surprised by Vin’s recent post,” Johnson admitted. “Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly – and privately – that I would not be returning to the franchise.”
“Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation,” he continued. “I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding. My goal all along was to end my amazing journey with this incredible ‘Fast & Furious‘ franchise with gratitude and grace.”
“I’m confident in the ‘Fast‘ universe and its ability to consistently deliver for the audience, and I truly wish my former co-stars and crew members the best of luck and success in the next chapter.”
Fast & Furious 10 is touted to release in cinemas on May 19, 2023.
