Dua Lipa Is The Most Played Artist Of 2020

Dua Lipa has been named the most played artist of 2020, thanks to the success of her second studio album ‘Future Nostalgia‘.

The chart was compiled by PPL – a music licensing company which measures the use of music “from radio stations and television channels” and “public performance locations”.

Future Nostalgia includes hit tracks ‘Don’t Start Now‘ and ‘Physical‘ and has seen success at both the Grammy and Brit Awards.

Ed Sheeran had held the top spot since 2017, but now falls to second place behind Dua Lipa. Ariana Grande claimed third place, marking her first appearance in the PPL chart.

Coldplay claim the 7th spot for 2020 and have achieved the impressive feat of maintaining a presence on the chart for eight out of the last ten years.

“Thank you so much to everyone that listened to and loved my music during 2020″, Dua Lipa said in a statement. “I’m incredibly proud that I was the most played artist on radio, TV and all across the UK.”

“I so wanted Future Nostalgia to bring some happiness during such a difficult time. Thanks to everyone who supported it and also to PPL, who do important work in making sure artists and musicians are paid when their music is played.”
