British Rapper Wiley Charged With Assault And Burglary

London-born rapper Wiley has been charged with assault and burglary after an incident on August 28.

According to Sky News, the Metropolitan Police were called to a flat at Romford Road, Forest Gate “around 10pm on Saturday, 28 August”.

“Officers attended the location. It was alleged that a man had entered the flat, assaulted the occupant and caused criminal damage to the property.” Said a statement from police. “The man was arrested and taken into custody. The occupant, an adult male, sustained a minor injury. London Ambulance Service was not required.”

A report by The Guardian suggests that Wiley – whose real name is Richard Kylea Cowie Jr – broke into the home of his friend, Ali Jacko.

Wiley is considered one of the leading artists behind the British grime music scene. The 42-year-old has released fourteen studio albums and was awarded an MBE in 2018 for his contribution to music.

Wiley will appear at Thames magistrate court on September 13.
