Filmmaker Ryan Coogler found himself mistook for a robber whilst visiting a bank in January.

According to TMZ, the Black Panther director arrived at a Bank of America branch in Atlanta sporting sunglasses and a face mask.

He then proceeded to hand one of the bank tellers a withdrawal slip which asked for the “discreet” withdrawal of $12,000.

“I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet,” the note allegedly read.

Apparently finding his behaviour suspicious after an alert was triggered on the bank’s computer, staff proceeded to call police citing concerns of a robbery.

When law enforcement arrived, they reportedly detained two people who were waiting outside for Coogler before placing the filmmaker himself in handcuffs.

The mistake was quickly realised after speaking with Coogler, who was understandably outraged by the experience and demanded the badge numbers of every officer present.

Coogler is currently filming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Georgia.
