Actor Alec Baldwin is being sued by the sister of a marine killed in Afghanistan after he called her an “insurrectionist.”

The family of marine Rylee McCollum, who died during the disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan, are suing Baldwin for defamation.

Roice McCollum alleges that Baldwin exposed her and the McCollum family to an influx of social media hatred after he claimed that she was an “insurrectionist” for going to a Trump rally on 6 January 2021.

According to reports, Roice was interviewed by the FBI for her possible involvement in the US Capitol riot, but was never detained, arrested or accused of any crime.

After Rylee passed away, a GoFundMe page was set up to support the McCollum family, with Baldwin personally donating $5000 to help them through the difficult time.

But after Roice posted a throwback photo from the trump Rally on her Instagram earlier this month, Baldwin commented on the post, asking: “Are you the same woman that I sent the $ to for your sister’s husband who was killed during the Afghanistan exit?”

Roice says her and the McCollum family have received hundreds of hateful messages as a result of the actors comment, included ones that have told her to end her life.

Baldwin, who is currently being investigated over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has yet to comment on the lawsuit by the McCollum family.
